Common Questions About ThermiVA
At Flawless Aesthetic Center, we’re excited to offer women ThermiVA treatments for sexual wellness. This radiofrequency-based treatment is painless and gets fantastic results, and has been specially designed to tighten the vaginal walls and increase lubrication — among other benefits. Because patients love this treatment, it’s one of our most popular services. Here are some of the most common questions that are asked about it.
Does the treatment hurt?
No, it does not hurt at all. Our patients say that ThermiVA feels like a warm massage. The radiofrequency energy is not too hot, and in fact, many women find the treatment relaxing. You will also be able to go right back to your regular day afterward.
What exactly does ThermiVA do?
ThermiVA has many benefits. The treatment is designed to tighten the walls of the vagina, increase lubrication and nerve sensations, reduce the size of the labia (goodbye, camel toe), provide better orgasms, make intercourse more comfortable, and increase sexual drive.
Will THERMIva affect my menstrual cycle?
No changes to the menstrual cycle after THERMIva have been reported.
Is ThermiVA safe?
ThermiVA has been FDA approved and used temperature-controlled radiofrequency that has been clinically tested and proven safe for patients. As long as a licensed, experienced medical professional is performing the treatment, THERMIva is very safe.
Why is ThermiVA done in stages?
ThermiVa is conducted in three different treatments over three months. Each treatment takes 20-30 minutes to complete. “To get the effect you want, it takes time,” Dr. Bertrand says. Dr. Red Alinsod, M.D., a ThermiVa physician, performed the procedure in 6-month and 1-month treatments and discovered that the maximum treatment for effective results is to perform three 30-minute treatments monthly for three months and then repeat the procedure once every year or year and a half.
What does the ThermiVA device look like?
The device is a long, thin wand that has been specially designed for the vaginal canal and labia. The handpiece is about the width of a small tampon. It works to strengthen the outer skin and structural support from within. The wand has a small electrode (coated in comfortable plastic) on the device’s very tip, which emits radiofrequency energy.
Can I get ThermiVA just for my external or internal vagina?
Yes. While many women choose to treat both their inner and outer vagina, you can choose to treat just one area.
Can I have a THERMIva treatment if I have an IUD?
If your IUD is correctly located in the uterus (away from the vaginal cavity), it will be safe to have a THERMIva treatment. If you have uterine prolapse and an IUD, this may be a problem. Be sure to mention to us if you have an IUD before treatment.
How soon can I get THERMIva after giving birth?
We recommend waiting 6 to 8 weeks after vaginal delivery to undergo ThermiVA. At this point, the tissues will be healed.
