Skin tags, the little, benign growths that appear on the skin, can be annoying or bothersome, and create bumps and shapes on our otherwise smooth skin–a cosmetic appearance we don’t want. Skin tags can also rub against clothing or jewelry and get irritated, which can be painful and uncomfortable.
There are many different types of skin tags, but they generally tend to be brownish or black, round or somewhat asymmetrical. Skin tags can also appear as larger, fleshy, tumor-like outgrowths, or large, flat, wart-like growths.

Once the treatment is complete and the lesion is removed, it will not come back again. In this sense, the removal is permanent. However, do keep in mind that skin tags often grow in clusters. If you’re prone to skin tags, you may get others in a similar area or other areas in the future.
How do laser treatments work to remove skin tags?
Laser treatments are a cosmetically friendly option to removing skin tags, moles, and many other skin concerns. During a laser treatment to remove skin tags, your technician will direct a concentrated beam of light to the area, which effectively burns the skin growth away. This laser treatment is minimally invasive, generally painless, and it is virtually scarless.
Before your treatment, we will numb the area with a local anesthetic prior. Once this takes effect, the laser will be applied and the skin tags removed. Afterward, you may need a bandage or ointment to care for the area as it heals, which generally takes about 3-5 days.
Most people only need one or two treatments to completely remove their skin tag or tags.
After your treatment
Be will provide an antibiotic cream to apply to the area. You may wash the area gently, but pat it dry immediately. Generally, keep the treated area dry. If there is a scab, don’t pick at it to ensure there’s no scarring. Wear loose clothing over the treated area, and avoid exposure to the sun until the area has fully healed.
You can return to work or your usual activities immediately or the day after your procedure, but be aware that the treated area may appear raw and red. You may apply makeup around the treated area, but do not put makeup directly on the area where the skin tag was.
