What Should I Expect?
There are three basic steps to fat grafting:
- Step 1: Fat is harvested from a pre-selected area of the body, using liposuction techniques.
- Step 2: The extracted fat is put into a centrifuge to separate it from blood, other types of fluids and any damaged fat cells.
- Step 3: The fat is injected into the target treatment area.
For facial fat grafting, very small amounts of fat are removed and reinjected.
What Is The Recovery From Fat Grafting Like?
Particularly for facial fat grafting, you should not massage the area and keep it as immobile as possible
for a few days after the procedure to give the fat cells a chance to establish a blood supply. Most of the
swelling will disappear within 24 to 72 hours.
How Long Will Results Last?
The newest procedure, called “micro fat grafting,” allows for the establishment of the best blood supply
to the fat and, in many cases, the results are permanent, though touch-ups may be required.
