What is Platelet Rich Plasma?
Platelet rich plasma, or PRP, is created using a vial of your own blood (just like a blood test). Once the blood is taken from your body, it is placed in a centrifuge where it is spun at high speeds to separate the red blood cells from the platelets and plasma. The remaining PRP is rich in proteins and growth factors which stimulate new cell growth, promote healing, and trigger natural skin revitalization.
How is Platelet Rich Plasma Used?
PRP is used in conjunction with microneedling to enhance its skin-beautifying results. Microneedling is performed to create micro-channels through which the PRP can enter the deeper layers. The tiny needles create small pin pricks, stimulating your immune system to come to the rescue and repair the area, naturally.
This also stimulates your own natural production of collagen and elastin, the building blocks of the skin. PRP further enhances this healing process of your skin through its proteins and growth factors, encouraging new cell growth and plumping the skin in the process.
In addition to the above, PRP is also used in several other ways to provide beautification and overall rejuvenation:
- Injections for wrinkles and fine lines
- Hair restoration
- General facial rejuvenation
- O-Shot—provides increased sex drive, increases ability to orgasm, decreases urinary incontinence, and many other benefits
